A case of cow Elephant of Mysore Zoo whose parturition process got delayed because of the partial uterine inertia trcated with 20 ml of Oxytocin 0.5% vol/wt intravenously with 500 ml of Dextrose 0.5% gave good response.

Teasing behaviour was observed at the Asiatic Lion exhibit in the Mysore Zoo. An averages of 11% of visitors were teasers. A majority of teasers were males. The hypothesis that the frequency of teasing is inversely proportional to the age-group of the visitor, was only partially proved; and more data are needed to verify it. Objectives: To analyze the effect of conducting maintenance inspection on equipment at subsystem level and at group level on the downtime per unit time for the equipment. Methods/Analysis: Using Delay Time Analysis (DTA). Taguchi design of experiments is sought to synthesize the data sets to involve the realistic effect of four DTA parameters, defect arrival rate, inspection time, breakdown maintenance time and the delay time distribution parameter, whose levels have been adjusted to match normal situations prevail in industry with some rounding off. Numerical example is shown for the consequence variable of downtime per unit time, computed at subsystem level and at equipment level. Findings: Subsystems fit for maintenance inspection can be segregated from those which should be left out for breakdown maintenance strategy by simple method, which is discussed. To aid the group inspection strategy, mathematical models to arrive at the data aggregates are presented, the extension of which can lead to plant level data aggregation too; the way the inspection time can be applied in a parallel or series manner on all subsystems have been discussed. The indicator, the downtime per unit time which is computed based on aggregates can mislead the planner is pointed out for making out a better decision while deciding maintenance inspection intervals. The grouping analysis has finally led to three strategies for the practitioner to choose from while implementing DTA based maintenance inspection, the circumstances in which one can resort to any strategy is also indicated Conclusion/Application: Three strategies, Single inspection, Grouped inspection-series and Grouped inspection-parallel are available for the practitioner when planning PMI through DTA. Certain parts can be left to breakdown maintenance strategy. Caution is given about possible creeping up of error due to data aggregation in grouped inspection.Keywords

Software aging is a phenomenon that refers to progressive performance degradation or transient failures or even crashes in long running software systems such as web servers. It mainly occurs due to the deterioration of operating system resource, fragmentation and numerical error accumulation. A primitive method to fight against software aging is software rejuvenation. Software rejuvenation is a proactive fault management technique aimed at cleaning up the system internal state to prevent the occurrence of more severe crash failures in the future. It involves occasionally stopping the running software, cleaning its internal state and restarting it. An optimized schedule for performing the software rejuvenation has to be derived in advance because a long running application could not be put down now and then as it may lead to losses. This paper proposes a method to derive an accurate and optimized schedule for rejuvenation for a web server (Apache) by using Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) feed forward Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), a swarm intelligence based algorithm as the learning algorithm. Aging indicators are obtained through experimental setup involving Apache web server and clients, which acts as input to the MLP neural network. This method is better than existing ones because usage of PSO algorithm leads to better convergence in speed and accuracy.Keywords

Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU), core unit of a processor, when used for scientific computations, will spend more time in multiplications. For higher order multiplications, a huge number of adders are to be used to perform the partial product addition. Reducing delay in the multiplier reduces the overall computation time. Wallace multipliers perform in parallel, resulting in high speed. It uses full adders and half adders in their reduction phase. Reduced Complexity Wallace multiplier will have fewer adders than normal Wallace multiplier. A new 16×16 multiplier is proposed with fast adders at the final stage of Wallace multipliers to reduce the delay. The presence of larger carry propagating adder indicates wallace multiplier as faster multiplier. The fast adder (Modified carry save adder) is used at the final stage of the Wallace multipliers to reduce the delay. This paper presents a detailed analysis of several fast adder architectures for high performance VLSI design.Keywords

Embedded technologies are fast growing and used worldwide since it reduces man power and it produces efficient results without human intrusion. RFID is a new amazing technology and it plays a major role in embedded system. RFID is one of the most exciting technologies that satisfy the human by increasing profitability and increases efficiency. It is a replacement of Bar code since RFID has the ability to scan multiple items and it doesn't need line of sight. They are easy to implement than the wired technology and continuous monitoring helps in better understanding.
This paper describes about an architectural framework for implementing a Student Tracking system over a wide range effectively via RFID technology. This system is designed specifically for the purpose of tracking the students inside the college as well as Smart Attendance Maintenance without the intervention of the staff using RFID. This system not only consist of a framework but also it contains the various steps to be done for implementing it. This system consist of both hardware as well as software components. It is designed to track the movement of the students within the college campus as well as automatic Attendance monitoring without human intervention using RFID technology. The hardware architecture consists of an RFID active tag, RFID transceiver, systems interconnected and database server.. The PC can be connected to the transceiver to read the tag id .Software part consist of an Application Programming Interface (API) that handles and analyses the data, an user-friendly GUI and a database that stores as well as retrieves all the student information.

The study is a proposition of the application of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a spectrophotometric UV range detector to analyse the chemical purity and assay of tetrabenazine in bulk drug and tablet formulation and also to apply the proposed method to determine the content uniformity according to USP specification. During computer assisted literature search only a few publications were found about tetrabenazine, so the ultimate objective of the present investigation was aimed to develop stability - indicating LC method and the development of the newer analytical method was achieved under optimised chromatographic conditions by using mobile phase composed of potassium phosphate buffer: acetonitrile in the ratio (40:60v /v). The seperation was achieved by using isocratic elution mode with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The effluent was monitored on a UV detector at 284 nm. The retention time of tetrabenazine was found to be at 5.05min and the standard calibration curve was linear over a concentration range of 6.25-37.5 μg/mL with r value of 0.999. The LOD and LOQ were found to be 0.562 and 1.704 μg/mL respectively. The recovery studies were performed and the percentage recoveries were found to be in the range of 98.64-98.88 %. The drug was also subjected to acidic, basic, oxidative and photolytic degradation as per the ICH guidelines. The developed method allows to separate all degradation from tetrabenazine and to quantitate the tetrabenazine amount. As there is no official monograph in the pharmacopeias about tetrabenazine, the performed full validation procedure makes the method ready to use in routine analysis.Keywords

Global interconnection has allowed Integrated Circuit (IC) designers to greatly reduce costs by subcontract their manufacturing needs to external fabricators. However, there is a low cost Fabless semiconductor facilities have introduced a new potential for security viruses. Standardized testing and verification procedures cannot guarantee the circuit being tested is precisely the circuit that was designed. Thus, an adversary may insert malicious circuits known as hardware Trojans. Trojan trigger to observe either a faulty output or measurable uncommon on side-channel signals or disable functionality, reduce performance, leak Hidden keys, insert a backdoor within the designed circuit. Transition is modeled by geometric distribution and the number of clock cycles required to generate a transition is estimated. Existing system, a dummy scan flip-flop insertion procedure is proposed aiming at decreasing transition generation time. The procedure increases transition probabilities of nets beyond a specific threshold but this paper presents new hardware trust architecture to magnify functional Trojans activity. In this paper architecture modification done by introducing an LFSR and detecting the Trojan threats there by deactivate Trojan threats

This paper presents a new approach for optimizing the machining parameters on turning Metal Matrix Composite (AI-SiC-MMC). Optimization of machining process parameters was done by an analysis called Weighted Principal Component Analysis (WPCA), which is a useful tool for optimizing multi-response problems. Based on Taguchi's L27 orthogonal array, turning experiments were conducted for aluminium silicon carbide particulate reinforced metal matrix composite (A356/10/SiCp) using polycrystalline diamond (PCD) fine grade insert. The machining process parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut are optimized by multi response considerations namely surface roughness and specific power. The optimum combination of process parameters was studied by extracting more than one principal component and integrating into multi-response performance index (MPI). Finally, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to find out the most influential parameters for multi response criteria. As a result, optimization of the complicated multiple performance characteristics can be greatly simplified through this approach.Keywords

The objective of this study is to select the optimal combination of machining parameters in Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) process such that machining performance gets increased. Here the machining performances i.e. responses are measured in terms of Metal Removal rate (MRR), Surface Finish (SF) and Kerf (Cutting width). The most critical factors that affect performance measures are identified as Input peak voltage, Pulse-ON time, Pulse-OFF time, Dielectric fluid pressure, Wire feed, Wire speed and Servovoltage. Eighteen experimental trails based on L18 (21 × 37) orthogonal array are conducted and the corresponding responses are measured. Classical methods like factor analysis and desirability index are used for solving this multi-objective problem. The objective of the current study was to develop a validated, specific and stability-indicating reversed phase HPLC method for the quantitative determination of posaconazole and its related substances in API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient). The determination was done for active pharmaceutical ingredient in the presence of degradation products, and its process-related impurities. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a waters HPLC system with PDA detector and the column employed for the present investigation was inertsil ODS-3V C18 (150×4.6 mm with 5 μ particle size) and empower2 software provided by waters was used throughout the experiment. The method employed a linear gradient elution and the detection wavelength was set at 225 nm (for intermediate A impurity) and 260 nm (for intermediate B, diastereomer, formyl and benzyl posaconazole impurity). The drug was subjected to stress conditions of hydrolysis (acid and base), oxidation, photolysis and thermal degradation as per International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) prescribed stress conditions to show the stability-indicating power of the method. Significant degradation was observed during acid, oxidative, thermal and photo stress studies. In the developed HPLC method, the resolution between posaconazole and its process-related impurities was found to be greater than 2.0. Regression analysis shows an r value (correlation coefficient) of greater than 0.999 for posaconazole and it’s all the five impurities. The developed HPLC method was validated with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision and robustness.Keywords

Black pepper is the world’s most traded spice, mainly cultivated in Karnataka and Kerala, India. The extensively planted pepper hybrid, Panniyur-1 has resulted in a drastic fall in yield due to foot rot disease. An ancient indigenous variety, ‘Sigandhini’ has recently obtained Intellectual Property Rights under PPVFRA-2001. In the present study, we estimated the area under pepper and its seedlings demand in Karnataka, and also analysed the comparative economics of Sigandhini and Panniyur-1 nurseries. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources and the compound annual growth rate and financial feasibility of black pepper nursery raising were analysed. Karnataka’s area grew at an annual rate of 18.63% and revealed that an additional area of 27,048 ha would require 300.50 lakh seedlings in 2020–21. Sigandhini earns higher net revenue to farmers compared to Panniyur-1 seedlings.Keywords
